One of our core ministries is recovery from childhood sexual abuse.
As we examined our purpose it was obvious that the lives of so many victims have suffered as a result of these crimes.
The victims form two separate groups. The primary victims and the secondary.
The primary victims are of course the children abused.
The secondary victims are the families of those offended as well as the families of the perpetrators.
This means that the net is cast much wider than first thought.
There is another aspect of this problem.
A lack of healing of victims may distort their sense of the norm and some unhealed victims may go on to offend also.
At Mission Serenity we are committed to making a difference where this problem is concerned.
The primary purpose apart from the healing is education.
It should be considered that;
1. Victims whose lives have been destroyed can return to a meaningful life and take control back.
2. Victim’s families need to be educated in the ways that they can support their loved ones through the process.
These crimes are being committed by people, both men and women, who lack a vital part of their maturity and education. To heal victims is a major part of what we do but educating others to a better life, to reduce the number of those who offend, can only assist in reducing the number of future victims.

Our view is that if we can heal just one victim and prevent one person from offending then it’s worth the effort.
But this is a massive task.
On this web site you will be guided in several ways.
If you are a victim who has remained silent and you are now about to come forward and report, then you may well run into some opposition from those around you who don’t understand why you’re bringing this up now.
Your family and friends will ask many questions and you will also have many questions in your own mind.

Guide your loved ones there as well.
Be prepared for reactions to your revelations that seem strange and in some cases hostile.
We want to help you and them, come to terms with the issue.
Print this out and use it to back your thoughts with the facts that we present to you.
Please follow the links to a letter we have written for you to print out and give your family and friends that may help them understand.
We need to state at the outset that;
1. We are not a reporting or enforcement agency. While we can guide you to an agency for initial contact, our purpose is always healing. In many cases, reporting is part of the healing process, but this must always be the decision of those involved.
2. We do not promote litigation against organizations or individuals. As above, this is for the individuals to decide. We care only about the healing.
At Mission Serenity we are happy to talk to your families and loved ones.
But you have to decide if you want to take control of your life back again.
That is always your first decision and the hardest.

There has never been and never will be an excuse for abuse of any kind especially against children.
