Our Purpose
We are aware of many who feel let down by conventional, traditional Christianity.
Issues pertaining to abuse within many churches and organisations have left people wondering about the relevance of Christ in their lives.
So many past abuse victims, have turned away from Church and Christ, and taken others with them.
This robs them of their much needed spiritual life, and takes away their serenity.
Many would like to move on from this and find a way back to church, but the trust is gone.
How can they get back from this position?
We are helping large numbers of people deal with these issues, in order to establish a loving relationship with Christ, and restore a community sense of fellowship in a supportive, non-judgmental and healing local church.
Isn’t this what God expects from His church?
Our purpose, is to establish a network of current local church communities, that will embrace the concepts of healing, hope and faith, that are built around the Beatitudes from Christ’s famous “Sermon on the Mount.”
We are fixed on the conviction that if we start helping the hurting to see the value of living their lives on two rails, then their walk to faith may run fairly smoothly.
For us the rails are “The Ten Commandments” on one side, and the “Beatitudes” on the other side.
This is the foundation of any persons Christian walk.
The place for all this to happen, is the local Church community.
We must therefore ensure that the local church is healing and healthy.
That it is indeed, a place where judgment is left at the door, and the hurt and weary can come inside to a safe sanctuary, where the Holy Spirit can work His wonders.
Reedy Creek Seventh-day Adventist Church [our own Church], on the Gold Coast, has been called God’s Healing Church.
This brings a warm sense of community spirit to our church family, and promotes the healing notion even further.
Mission Serenity, will work with your Church community, to help enhance and balance the many initiatives available to the modern, growing local Church.
Life is moving in a direction and at a pace that we appear powerless to control.
We seem to have more of the things that don’t truly matter, and less of the important things that sustain and nourish us as human beings.
Our society is bloated on entitlement and drowning in knowledge that most of us are unable to handle and don’t need anyway.
We have forgotten what is truly important and in our turmoil can’t even find the time to stop, breathe and take stock of what it is, that we are really searching for.
Our world is drowning in apathy, and a sense of hopelessness that is tangible in everyday life.
We are anxious and nervous about our future, and our wounds just don’t seem to heal.
All we want is serenity and the time to enjoy it, and this is more elusive than ever before.
“SERENITY”
Michelle and I realised that after living for fifty years on this planet the one thing that still eluded us was “SERENITY”.
We asked ourselves what serenity meant to us, and what we could do to achieve it?
We asked the big question and braced ourselves for the big answer.
Our lives have exploded with relevance from that moment.
We want to walk with you to “SERENITY”, and we have set this goal as our purpose.
OUR MISSION IS “SERENITY”.
What was robbing us of our SERENITY?
In answer to this question, we came up with the following list.
- Past hurts.
- Addictions.
- Fear.
- Denial.
- Incompletion.
- A sense of powerlessness.
- A feeling of being stuck.
- What’s the point?
- Consumerism.
- Media saturation.
- Unhealthy learning.
- Spiritual void.
So what could we do about this situation?
Well, firstly we had to make a decision to change.
To each of these hurdles on our own road to recovery, there is one common word.
“CHOICE”
So as a couple we started making choices for change and not excuses for denial.
We now want to help others make the same choices.
We all need healing, because we have all been wounded and have wounded others.
We offer a range of programs for groups, and also for individuals that are working.
